    What's the time again?, 8 Aug 2009

I have nothing bad to say about the actual console,it is loud though, and when a game doesn't support subtitles it can be almost impossible to follow some games,no my main gripe is the clock,my Dreamcast will gladly remember the time even if you haven't used it for two months, likewise my PS2,Gamecube etc.. but the 360 is like a bloody goldfish!,everytime you turn it on it's 12.00 on November the 22nd 2005 or thereabouts!,unless you are permanently on Xbox live or alter the clock everytime you turn it on it's hopeless,I've lost count of the amount of times I've loaded the wrong save up as I can't be bothered to change it everytime I use it,if there's a next one put a flamin' battery in it!

    Chose Carefully..., 31 May 2009

First you need to knwo that the Xbox 360 is well worth buying. At this price it blows the others out of the water. PS3 looks very good but this is so much cheaper.

My one tip when getting this is to look out for what you need from a games console. Personally I brought this one and then ended up paying more money to buy a hard drive and second controller when it would have been cheaper to have brought a different machine. Have a good look at the offers here on amazon and pick up the best package deal for you.

In short, get a 360, it's well worth the money

An ok games console, 12 May 2009

Nicely packaged and a selection of Arcade games. However I did not find the games very attractive. Bought Defender but complains about running on this version of the xbox 360. Bought Grand Auto Theft but also does not run without more memory.

If your buying this I would advise buying the 120Gb hard drive accessory.

Havent opened the box yet. leaving that for little bro to do. He would probably give it 5 stars.

    Great fun, 27 Apr 2009

Having enjoyed my last xbox console i thought i would try the latest xbox and see what all the fuss was about.

Im glad i did as i was glued to the console untill i finished the game.

The game in question being halo 3.

Now although alot of younger people get carried away with my console is better than yours, you wont get that fron an experienced player such as myself as ive played every console that ever came out.

I have to admit that halo 1 + 2 are alot larger than halo 3 and more technical as they were new for their time and a great achievement on a old console and halo 3 is just a rehash of good ideas but having said that it is still a very good game.

To cut a long review short, if you want a good console and enjoyed the xbox then you wont go wrong with this.

    Xbox 360 - Yes its a Jasper!!!, 12 Apr 2009

This is my 2nd Xbox360 (yes the 1st one is still going) and loving it, yes they can be a little noisy, no louder than a pc, but for the sheer quality of games it cant be beaten and for playing media files such Divx,Avi,MP4, Dvd its fantastic just make sure you get the official remote but you can use your joypad! Right this is the Jasper Model put out by Microsoft to eradicate ring of death plagued by the first models, its suppose to produce less heat amongst other things. Its the Arcade Edition with the new built in 256mb Memory, 12.1A on sticker on back of console, a new lighter 150w Power supply (all tell tale signs of a Jasper Model)and a production date of 23.12.2008. If you pay an extra £10.00 you get Kung fu Panda and Lego Indiana Jones and a extra wireless Joypad plus a Free HDMI lead for your HD TV. Also once you plug it into the internet you get New Xbox Experience, where you will get a free 1 month trial on Xbox live (Online Gaming) also on New Xbox Experience you can create a Avatar - a virtual person of yourself that will represent you on Xbox live, download Demos of games, watch game and film and music trailers, watch films in High Definition (Separate costs for film) Overall the Xbox 360 is one of the Best game experiences to come along in a long while, also for £125.00 for a Arcade machine you don't have to watch the Penny's like PS3 fans.

    Jasper chip, 12 Mar 2009

I got lucky and received an Xbox 360 with the Jasper chip through Amazon, but for those of you whom are thinking of buying one of these Arcade systems from amazon to get the Jasper chip set remember that ordering through Amazon makes the chance to getting a Jasper similar to playing roulette at this time. If you want the sure thing go to a store that sells 360s and look for the 12.1 that ensures the Jasper chip.

Low price - quick delivery to Germany, and: JASPER!, 12 Mar 2009

Low price and quick delivery to Germany. Of course we have in germany amazon.de, but here is the "Zocke" much more expensive. And the very best: amazon.co.uk sends the arcade-version of xbox 360 with "Jasper"-Mainboard. This means: half power-consumption and lower noise in comparison to my old xbox 360 which died with error E74.

As nice addon I could order Gears of War 2 for only £10 - cool.

    ARCADE!!, 12 Feb 2009

This is a bargain item, as i was very low on cash and needed an XBOX360 the arcade was my only option and i gotta say it was well worth it.

First of all for those with questions; yes you can play any xbox360 title, yes you can go on live BUT this takes up over 100mb of memory so be careful if you have a load of games and yes you can buy a hard-drive and attach it to the xbox360.

PLUS you get the Live ARCADE disk with it which i gotta say is really fun to play, my personal favorites are LUKOR 2 and BOOM BOOM ROCKET.

So all in all if you cant fork out enough for the models with a Hard-Drive this is for you. Gotta give it 5/5, 10/10 and 100%

    Disappointed, 5 Feb 2009

My son got one of these for his birthday. It died when it was fourteen months old. (Red ring of death) Nothing we did resuscitated it. I thought it was out of guarantee so we did nothing as I did not like the idea of a big repair bill. Last September we heard that Microsoft had extended the warranty to three years. So we phoned them up and arranged a repair. Within ten days we received a replacement which worked OK and son was very happy.... until Boxing day when that one died. Undeterred we rang them up again. Dead one was collected next working day and we awaited replacement. Replacement arrived was plugged in and was dead on arrival. We rang the help line. Could not get though due to technical difficulties. Next day we were told to borrow someone elses power lead and see if that worked. It didn't. Rang again and were told that they would replace it but they would use a quicker service! We already had a box however they insisted on sending another one from Germany. This took two days to arrive. Then the delivery man did not take the dead unit away so we had to wait another day for it to be collected. Two weeks later (Tuesday) the repaired unit arrived and worked. Four days later (Saturday 31 January) it died. I then had to wait until Tuesday for another box to be delivered from Germany (I already had two boxes now). I insisted the deliveryman collect the dead one as it was already waiting in an old box for its label.

Note with each delivery I received a note to say that it was a replacement unit with a new serial number and they had registered it for me.

That is five dead Xboxes. What is wrong with this product? Do notXbox 360 Arcade Console (256 MB Memory Unit) buy it is totally unreliable.

    Immensely happy, 25 Jan 2009

I have been after a next generation console for quite a while now. Having only been put off by the price I'm now happy to be the proud owner of said Xbox 360. I guess a lot has been said about the 360, certain chips, cooling problems and of course the red rings of death. However if you can get past all this nonsense (nowadays problems only happen in the minority, albeit a vocal minority) you can own a very impressive console. To clear some issues up my console was bought in December and does not include the newer Jasper chip. I would recommend people stop getting so obsessed by it, (as they were with the Falcon chip) it's not going to make a difference to your enjoyment of this console.

So why the Arcade? I bought the arcade for what I wanted to do, gaming. I'm not hugely interested in going online and wasting hours playing against some chap in Australia. For that very reason (and the reduced price tag) I opted for the arcade. Of course if my opinion on online gaming changes (but judging by the amount of time I have in the day for gaming I doubt it), the necessary upgrades are available to me at a reasonable price if I wish. One of the main disadvantages I guess of not going online is the games coming out that seem centred around online play. A great shame because console games should cater for the single or co-op players first not online play. So there are a few games (*cough* quantum of solace *cough*) that give you an extremely short and unrewarding single player campaign to make way for online play.

The console itself does run fairly loud, however it's hard to notice once immersed in games like Gears Of War. One other significant problem is the size of the power pack, it's quite large, so be sure you have a good sized space to store your Xbox. It's also good practice to make sure your Xbox is sitting vertically and not jammed in a corner but given some space to ventilate. The wireless controller will reach a fair distance so if you have a large living room and you sit far back from your TV you'll get the same response if you were right next to it. Far better than the Nintendo Wii which had me virtually cheek to cheek with the TV just to use their wireless controller. The controller itself is extremely easy to get used to if your coming from ps2 or Nintendo, even though it may look daunting.

As for the games I'm very happy. The Xbox has a fantastic catalogue of games, which is of course growing. I'm at the moment playing the first Gears Of War (as I want to get into the series) and it's a fantastic experience.

As I say I'm immensely happy with the Xbox 360 and I'm glad to be experiencing next gen HD graphics and really fluid game play.

P.S - Please, if you can, get an HDMI cable with your console. It improves the experience greatly.

Xbox 360 Arcade Console (256 MB Memory Unit)

Bought this as my old console final bit the dust with the dreaded 3 flashing red lights, I know I could have got it fixed but it is a few years old now so I decided to buy a new one. As I expected this console lives up to the discription and the service was first class and the price for me was just right. I have tried out PS3 console and apart from it being queiter I personal prefer my xbox.

Rather a Guide + Review of the included game instead of a proper review, 5 Dec 2008

This model is the only model with internal memory, making it a little special, in a way, not just a regular model minus the hard drive.

Be sure to buy a headset and a hard drive (20gb, 60gb or 120gb) seperately from this.

-----------Now the Review, of the game included---------

The Game included is a great title for all gamers, casual or hardcore. It has a variety of neat demos and minigames copied right off the Xbox Live Marketplace, to play to their full extent. The best thing about the game (called the Xbox Live Arcade Compilation Disc) is that it is around the same as the internal memory itself.

AMAZON RIP OFF, 28 Nov 2008

I PURCHASED THIS XBOX 360 ON THE 17TH OF NOVEMBER BECAUSE THEY WERE GIVING AWAY THE Xbox 360 Wireless Entertainment Pack AWAY FREE.

BUT WHEN I LOOKED AT THE INVOICE WHEN IT ARRIVED THEY HAD CHARGED ME £20 FOR IT.

AFTER PHONING CUSTOMER SERVICES ALL ACROSS THE WORLD I SEEM TO GET (PHONE JACKER EVERY TIME ??) WITH NO JOY IN GETTING MY £20 BACK.

What kind of poor loser are you?, 19 Nov 2008

to buy an arcade 360 console when you could get a 60GB model. It's not the console it's self which is poor it's the fact it has no hard drive. Without a hard drive it's only 1/4 of fun with why? X-box live it is such a big part of the console it takes gaming to a new level. With a x-box 360 hard drive you can have the new dashboard without a problem, you can download demos onto your hard drive, you can talk to friends online, you can download new levels where you can play against other players online, you can rent movies and there's more I can't think about from the top of my head but the message is this model's rubbish.

    Buyer Beware, 5 Nov 2008

I purchased the xbox 360 core as a 40th birthday present for myself and have to admit I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience. However 18 months later I've just had the dreaded red ring come up on my console and unless I pay some dodgy website for a book or video to show me how to fix it myself, it is no better than a paperweight. There are some places that for a fee will collect my box repair it and send it back to me but with only a 90 day warrantee, me thinks that perhaps maybe a week later the same problem will happen again. You have been warned!!!

An excellent entry level 360 great for casual players, hardcore gamers however look a stage higher..., 7 Oct 2008

Well i myself have an 360 and i just adore it, with its large number of games on the market and excellent array of online features, this is truly a gamers console. Im not a fanboy slating the other consoles as i do own a wii aswell and i love that machine too.

This entry level xbox is the cheapest availible as it doesnt contain a hard drive, but you do get 256mb pak for your save data and is basically all you need if your not a download fanatic, like for casual gamers who only own a few titles will get plenty of mileage out of the small memory pak.

However if your more of a hardcore gamer i suggest you look into the next level xbox with the 60gb hard drive, as Halo 3 players for instance will need a hard drive for download expansions.

Included is a wireless controller to get you started, the AV cable to hook you up to the television and free arcade games to play with, meaning great value.

The actual machine is no less powerful than the others, its just that it dont include a hard drive, and the extras required to get online. Hence the Cheap price tag.

If you ever wanted to expand you can always get the hard drive, headset and so on seperately at another stage when you see fit anyway.

Needs hard drive for Xbox compatability, 28 Sep 2008

The Xbox 360 arcade is OK, but I think a few things should be made clearer. Firstly, to have backwards compatability for XBox games, the 360 needs a hard drive which does not come with the Arcade. This means that it may be cheaper to buy a package that comes with a hard drive. Secondly, I find issues with the sound, especially via the HDMI connection. The way the connections are, you cannot have the picture going into one source and the sounds going into another source, unless you have bought the additional connector. All of this means that you may end up spending a lot more money to get even basic functionality.

Some clarification of the Arcade's features, 20 Sep 2008

The Arcade is great value at £120. You get HD gaming, access to arguably the best online gaming system, a media extender, DVD player and more.

For those that are still a little confused about the different 360 models, here's some clarification: -

All new 360s are the same internally, so the graphics you get in games with this model are of exactly the same standard you'd get if you owned an Elite.

All 360s have a HDMI port, but only the Elite actually comes with the cable. There is no benefit in buying an expensive HDMI cable, because the signal is digital. I think I paid £4 for mine and it works perfectly.

The hard drive is only required to play 2 games offline - Football Manager 2006 and Final Fantasy XI. All other disc based games will play without a hard drive. Burnout Paradise requires a hard drive for online play. There may be others, but that's the only one I'm aware of.

If you buy a hard drive at a later date, it simply clips to the side of the console. It doesn't need to be fitted internally.

The official Microsoft wireless adapter is not the only option for wireless. There are third party options too, such as the adapter made by Belkin. If you have a laptop with wireless you can use that to connect, although it means having the laptop on while gaming. You can also use homeplugs. Obviously if it's convenient to use the supplied cable to connect the 360 to your router, that's the best option.

Hopefully someone out there will find this info useful. The 360 has some superb games available for it and at £120 delivered it really is a bargain.

    a great replacement, 12 Aug 2008

if you, like me had a 360 giveup the ghost on you then you will most likly have held on to your hard drive and other kit so as a replacment this is second to none and whilst it may not be as pretty as the primuim it takes about an hour to repaint in glossy black that looks better than the elite.

but only buy this if you do still have hard drives and what not because other wise you will end up forking out alot more money in the long term.

so to summarise this is a good way to save money on an completly new prmium or elite but is not a good first time console.
