Sure it's a little pricy, but with the Ability of the NXE update to save my games to the HDD, my little 20GB HDD was filling up fast. This drive is a bit louder than my older 20GB drive, but it sure does give me a lot of expansion power.

Before I purchased my hard drIve I was under the impression that it was going to be new and come with a transfer kit. When I got it, it was the hard drive from an elite just wrapped in bubble wrap and no transfer kit. So I had to go out of my way to find a transfer kit before I could even use my hard drive. It works fine it's just I doubt it was new.

The pros about my order was i received it early and it works for now. The cons are it looks like a fake because the chrome on the side isnt even on there and its flimsy so i dont know if i should keep it or return it.

I have bought 2 of these 120-gig harddrives listed as "used" and have had no trouble at all with either of them. Keep in mind you need a data transfer kit to move your downloads and stuff from your old drive when you buy this! Both "used" drives were easy to install and have worked just as well as a brand new one.

This hard drive is great. After a long time of having to delete prior demos, videos, etc. in order to download newer larger demos and videos, I finally decided to purchase the 120GB hard drive. It came with a transfer cable and a cd, and everything transferred over smoothly (it took about 1 1/2 hours to transfer my 20GB drive to this). Now, I'm as happy as can be. I have plenty of room and can more freely download multiple demos to try out without having to swap out every few days. This allows me to go back and replay the demos without having to redownload them.
A definite must with the increasing sizes of demos and video.

Don't trust review #1! My son ordered this for his XBox, we got the hard drive, but no transfer kit. He plugged the hard drive into the console anyhow: it wouldn't even start. It should do at least that, even without the transfer kit. What a waste of time and what a disappointment.

The Hard Drive upgrade for my 360 Arcade purchase was well worth it! A+++ :)

It is wonderful having the extra hard drive space, but to transfer data from you old hard drive to your new drive, can be a chore. ...and no one enjoys chores. My external Memory Card that is inserted in the front of the Xbox 360, is not of significant size.
It would have been wonderful of either Microsoft or Amazon to share (or suggest) that you should also purchase a sizable memory card to help with the transference of your current drive's data to the new drive.
I did attempt to buy a memory card, but being the day after Christmas 2009 is when I purchased my new hard drive, each and every store I called was SOLD OUT of sizable memory cards.
After the data transference was finally completed, the hard drive performs as you would expect a compatible hard drive to perform. It would be my suggestion that everyone obtain a large hard drive, but also buy a sizable memory card.

It wa gift for my brother, who is a tech geek so he knew what he wanted for Christmas and Amazon had the best price

The drive I received has no stickers indicating it was ever manufactured for/by Microsoft. The "120GB HDD" label is even mounted upside-down. No data transfer cable. Given Microsofts' disabling on "unapproved" memory hardware, I can't afford to keep this one. It's going back.

Don't listen to the #1 review, the HDD that I got is clearly a fake even though on the webpage it says it's authentic Microsoft and there is no transfer kit. The box has avatars on it, absolutely no where on the box or HDD does it say microsoft.

Store a game on the HDD if it gets scratched later it will still play like new

This product (the 120gb xbox 360 hard drive) was a good deal and works wonderfully! however, buyers should be CAREFUL as the cheaper deals do NOT INCLUDE the transfer cable necessary to move your content from your old 20gb or 60gb drive to the new one. If you don't have saved games and other downloaded content then don't worry, you are saving money for sure. If you do have data saves and media then you need at least a memory card (I suggest a 512mb card - about $20-30) so you can copy your offline profiles and saves. Most online content can be re-downloaded for free if you can stand the wait. With all that in mind, Great Buy!

This is one of the best investments I have ever made. Quick to install (although it takes a little bit to transfer from the old 20 to the 120 but that's due to USB and the speed of the hard drives). I like the silver trim on it, makes my 360 look better. Yes you can remove the demos it installs after it's done so that you have even more room.
It feels SO good to install games to the hard drive and DLC AND not worry about space (for awhile).

I think the 120GB Hard Drive should've been on the XBOX 360 since it launched. I had an XBOX 360 since launch day and the 20GB that it came with was too small, considering that half of the space was already used for system software.
Of course, Microsoft will try and cash-in with accessories that should've come with the console by default - like the wireless network adapter.
I had to get one of these cause I was running out of HD space. I'm giving it 3 stars since it is somewhat necessary for every XBOX 360 gamer to have it but taking out 2 stars cause of the price and for the fact that it's something that should have came with the console at launch.

I was looking at the best option to getting a 360 and I was thinking about just getting the arcade with a hdd. I expected for it to be overpriced around 100 or something because it is M$, but this is just ridiculous. I upgraded my PS3's HDD to 500GB for less than $80. Why is this one almost $100 dollars MORE for 380GB LESS. That is just plain ridiculous!!

The 120gb hard disk for Xbox 360 is an excellent option for storing lots of demos and downloadable content, but it's way overpriced, considering that for the same price you can buy a 640GB portable hard disk from WD or Seagate.

If you love DLC, then you need this HD! Download demos, videos, and music and still have tons of space for more!

Going from 20Gb to 120Gb makes the Xbox 360 far more usable for people who are ripping large game libraries to the HDD, downloading tons of videos, and so on.

The good: Cheaper price than a retail store, which is good. No tax, good. works, good.
The bad: Microsoft has a proprietary hard drive so they over-charge for what is considered a minimal space hard drive. I could buy a 1 TB hard drive for this price, if the 360 wasn't proprietary. Shame on Microsoft for raping us on the price.

if you like to download games this is a must buy.also it comes with a transfer cable.the biggest plus to having a 120 or bigger harddrive is you can download your games to it which reduces the wear and tear of your xbox (red rings, disk drive, etc)

This is definitely the cheaper route to get the elite status xbox if you are upgrading, but if you are buying one for the first time you might as well take advantage of the price drop and get the elite to start.
The upgrade was easy from my 20GB to this 120GB drive, however there are a few drawbacks to using the kit microsoft sends along with this hard drive for transfer.
First off, you cannot copy, modify, or choose which files go onto the new drive. It literally copies everything to the new drive and automatically erases everything off the old. So much for using my old hard drive as a backup in case this one crashes, at least with this kit anyway. It also warns you that some files may get lost in the transfer, and they are not responsible if any lost saved data.
Just to be safe, I backed up all my saved game files on a memory card before the transfer, and wrote down the sizes for each section in the system memory tab on the dashboard. That way I could tell, if the sizes were different, that some data was lost in the transfer.
Unfortunately, the new drive had a ton of demos that added to the sizes of each section of my memory. I deleted all of the newly added material, and was able to compare the size difference from the two drives and luckily nothing was lost in the transfer.
If you don't want to go through all of that, do not use the microsoft transfer kit that is included and try some of the third party transfer devices on amazon that got good reviews.
All in all I came out fortunate and now I have a ton of space to download games and such to my hard drive without worrying about deleting to save space.

I recently purchased this item through Amazon.com as it was the cheapest I could find it. It is definitely easy to use, install, and set up. (However, don't do it in that order...the instructions make it clear the order to do it in). Doing the data transfer was a breeze with the provided cable. It took just about an hour to transfer all the data, mainly due to my large amount of Rock Band DLC. I wish the price point was lowered, especially considering the fact that the newest iteration of the 360 console includes the 120GB HDD. I maxed out my 20GB HDD that came with my 360 Pro. Regardless, this was a must buy item for me, so the price wasn't a hindering factor in my purchase decision. I just think the price can and should be lower.
