Fantastic... but flawed., 21 Apr 2010
I've had these drums many times, they are fantastic. However, each one has failed in the same way; The pads break. 2 days after receiving these drums, the red pad stopped working, followed by the green pad. You had to hit them really hard for them to register.
A few fixes later, found on ScoreHero, and my pads are back to normal. They are very easy fixes too, most only going as far as taking the top of the pad off, which doesn't void your warrenty. I would give these a 5 star, but as they break quite easily, I'm only giving them a four. Do yourself a favour though, if you can, and buy a Rock Band 2 set (Import only, or The Beatles Rock Band Premium Edtion, as that comes with a reskinned Rock Band 2 set), as the quality of these are told to be better.Source: [amazon.co.uk]

Broken to pieces, 25 Dec 2009
My kids opened the drum set at Christmas and it was broken to pieces. Because I ordered it November 26th, I was unable to return it. It was a bummer for Christmas.

Cheaper to buy the drum set than to buy the replacement pedal, 15 Dec 2009
After a night of playing Rock Band with the kids, the pedal broke in half (not uncommon if you do a google search). It was cheaper to get the whole drum kit than to buy a replacement.

This drum set works perfectly great! Compared to the Rock Band 2 drums these work perfectly the same. The only downfall that comes with the set is that the pedal is horrendous to use. Unless you've been playing rock band for a while or the drums itself, your feet will get fatigued very fast. It's much more difficult to do songs with lots of bass pedal. But that can be fixed by just buying a new rock band 2 pedal or any other pedal.

The Rockband Drum Set is a great value. They work perfectly with ALL Rockband and All Guitar Hero games that I know of. I own a variety of both games and the drums were definately worth the money. They are the funnest part of Rockband and Guitar Hero in my opinion. Everyone should buy the drums

This is the basic original drum set for Rockband. The size of the kit is around 1 meter wide and 1 meter high at its maximum height (approximately). You can adjust the height to suit the level you prefer or play them at a table if space is tight (they are not huge!). The drums themselves are very responsive but take care when drumming and try not to hit them too hard, (which is difficult when you're rockin out!) as hard drumming can damage their life span. However, if you want a more authentic drumming experience you can buy the symbols (hi-hat, crash, ride etc.)to bring it closer to a real kit. On Rockband 2 there is a drum training facility so if you're not too great, or just want to learn from scratch you can develop your skills and improve your playing. This can also help your real life kit playing.

Rock band is awesome as always. The drums are awesome, but the green symbol on the right rattled when I got it and never worked as well as the others. you would have to hit it a little extra hard for it to work.

Rock Band drums are a hit... get it?, 6 Jul 2009
I don't want to work. I want to bang on the drum all day. Well with that musical interference aside, these drums are awesome. The main thing I would change if I could would be the ability to rotate the drum set toward you more. The ability to move the slightly angled drums up and down doesn't cut it.
Great product. How do people break the foot pedal? I play bare foot, so that's probably why I haven't broken it. So, I recommend playing barefoot, because it might break otherwise. The people that have broken it seem to be very rough with it.Source: [amazon.com]

We received this package very fast. I was shocked and so was my son!! He loves his drum set and he saved his own money to buy this. He is 11 years old and has become a very avid drummer!! Quality seems hit or miss, 30 May 2009
I am an old school Rock Band'er that still has all of the original RB1 instruments - I was also one of the people who had to ship their entire instrument set back one-by-one to EA for all the various issues with their initial production run. After that first initial swap however, my drums worked like a champ for at least a year - mostly because I used the guitar and mic the most, the drums just sat there gathering dust. After about two years, now playing Rock Band 2, I finally decided to really try out the drums. Well, within about four months of playing the drums, my drums broke.
First went the foot pedal - the bridge of the actual pedal just broke right in two. This part was replaced by a third party Rock Pedal, and I've had no problems yet - unfortunately this one single foot pedal cost $75 by its lonesome.
Second, the yellow drum pad started to split around the center hole where the sensor lays. Once that area started to crack, the sensor soon followed.
Enter: the first drum replacement (April of 2009). First I was glad that Amazon was selling these RB1 drums - $30 was a heck of a lot nicer than $80-90 for the RB2 wireless ones. At first glance, these drums looked exactly the same as my original drums. Unfortunately after a week of drumming, the red pad started registering every other hit. I popped the pad off and found that the sensor was only half screwed on. This meant that the screws were loose from the factory. However, tightening this screw made everything ok.
May of 2009 and the green drum pad started registering hits very sporadically. Then eventually not at all. Pop the drum pad out this time and found that the soldering point where the wire fed into the drum pad had failed and one of the wires was completely disconnected and broken. The fact that this happened on the green drum pad - the pad that's probably used among the least amount in the game - tells you how little use it took to break the wire.
June of 2009, I get my third drum set from Amazon. Maybe this one will last a little longer. For reference, I play mostly on Hard and a couple of easy songs on Expert.Source: [amazon.com]

Keep in mind when I say this that I am a rabid, rabid Rock Band fan. But this first iteration of the drumkit was not very good. The pedal, if unmodified, WILL break. It's not a question of "if" but of "when". Also it is not very responsive to fast repeated drum hits, which makes it very frustrating to play on Hard or Expert.
If you're a do-it-yourselfer and you don't care about playing well on harder difficulty levels, you can get this set and bolt a metal plate onto the pedal to reinforce it. You can even use socks or felt pads on the drum pads to help the non-responsiveness problem somewhat. Otherwise, strongly consider shelling out the extra bucks for the Rock Band 2 X360 Drum Set.Source: [amazon.com]

The rock band one drums work a lot better and are way more reliable for a quarter of the price. The one bad thing is they cant be used with cymbels and they are not wireless. But if you can live with that these are a much better buy.

So, I worked in a well known electrical goods chain and while there Rockband hit the streets !! I was like ugh maybe ok to play ! once i had a few goes at it wow its a lot of fun ! I found the drumset on here $25 and then due to the reviews I also bought the silencer pads and it makes the world of difference. Its a great addition and new dimension to video gaming. quality and durabilty are very good and my nieces and nephews will be playing with these for a long time.

its silly to think this product is to pricey, and i agree, how many of you spend £70+ on useless stuff that u throw into a cupboard and it never sees the light of day. this game is one of the most genious and landmark games for rock, and to boycott something which is bringing rock music into the mainstream of gaming and families across the globe is a bit silly to me, REGARDLESS of price. Ive conquerd this on guitar now i cant wait to rock out on the drums.

People who criticise the cost of this games peripherals are really missing the point. Spending stupid amounts of money on extortionately expensive junk is as Rock n Roll as throwing TVs out of hotel windows, drug overdoses and nasty accidents with loaded guns. Don't moan about the price of the drums, buy 3 sets and change your name to Keith Moon.

This is a great, great game. Yes it's expensive but that is neither here nor there for the purposes of a review of a game (which is the same price as most other Xbox 360 games, it's the extra peripherals that cost quite a lot)

Having just recently been looking for the drums for rockband and it says dispatched within 1-2months you gotta be joking.
who is going to buy the drums and wait 1-2 months for them to be delievered when you buy the game and it comes within 3 days. seems rele odd.
Anyway this game is amazing the ammount of downloadable content it great you get so many songs to choose from and playing the drums and guitar is soo much fun.

Every review i've read on this site has been about how it costs too much, or how much more we are paying then americans...and i really just wanted to read a review on the actual GAME. So here is mine.
If you like guitar hero there's a good chance you'll love this game. Although it is much more of a game where everyone can get involved. I am using my GH guitar and have just brought the drums with trade in money from games i've finished and i'm not dissapointed.
The graphics are superb, the gameplay is as challanging as you want to make it with much less of a learning curb than GH.
Fun for everyone who'll give it a chance - Not everyone can afford this, or at least the whole 'band in a box' extras, but for those who can - give it a go !Source: [amazon.co.uk]

For the £150 I spent, this is fantastic for up to 3 people. Its one game I can play with my young sons so worth it to me. Come on, how many of you booze away £50 on a night out? The game is awesome - no question. I'm playing it with my old GH controller. The reason for the low marks is the price. We always get ripped off on our games by a fiver here and a tenner there - but this is ridiculous.
If no-one buys these periphials then they will take not.

Alot of people have been saying this game is a rip-off and we should all boycott it, but to be honest its a nice idea, but in practise if we all boycotted america they would stop sending us games (and really should we boycott games when petrols so much?).

So after seeing that it would cost me £140 to play this game that i had been looking forward to, if i bought all guitars, mic, and drums. I thought i would buy just the drums, and use the guitars from guitar hero. But WTF it still costs £70 for drums only and another 40 for game on top. Sort it out EA.

Needs serious DIY improvement, 18 Apr 2008
Price or not, the Rock Band drums are flimsy. To really rock out on this set at the highest difficulties, many modifications are all but required:
- Replacement pedal (DIY off a real drum kick pedal)
- PVC supports on the rightmost and leftmost pads
- Better drumsticks (nylon-heads come reccomanded, I found bigger size gave me more accuracy but your mileage may vary)
- Possibly sound dampening, the drums are VERY noisy and while I don't mind it a lot of people do.
Hopefully, in the future, third-party drum kits or future revisions will rectify these problems. It's also said that Rock Band compatible full (i.e. real!) drum sets might become available, although prices will of course make this already price-gouged thing look very cheap.Source: [amazon.co.uk]
